RAISE THE ROOF

And the car... If I hadn't made it clear by now, I hated how low the car rode.  Every time I went over a railroad track every muscle in my body would clench in preparation for the car to implode beneath me.  What a cool way to go... But alas - I knew it was fixable.  The previous owner had installed the KSPORT coilover kit, so the ride height was fully adjustable.  I bought a full set of Konig Rewind wheels.  Originally, I ordered them from Motorsport - their price was incredible and came with chrome valve stems and lugnuts.  The next day though, they emailed me and said it'd be another 6 weeks before I got them as they were on backorder.  This is where my impatience got the best of me.  This was one I couldn't wait for.

I poked around on the internet until I found the same exact wheels from Summit Racing.  The price was a few bucks more, but they offered free shipping too so it all balanced out.  I  cancelled my order with Motorsport and 3 days later, all 4 wheels arrived.  These were 15x7, as opposed to the wheels that were on it at 16x7.  The tires that were originally on the car were 205/45R16, which were about 1.4" smaller than the stock outer diameter, which not only made it look wonky, it screwed up the reading on my speedometer.  I ended up getting Yokohama YK740GTX tires, measuring 205/60R15.  Yes.... back to stock tire diameter.

I went about adjusting the ride height.  I've never done this before, but coilovers are magical.  Loosen the adjustment rings, twist the tubes left or right, take a few measurements, tighten the rings and that's all it took.  I slapped the new wheel/tire combo on there and was taken with the new look of the car.

I hadn't driven the car since putting on the strut tower braces either, and the entire driving experience had changed.  The new tires/wheels, ride height, and braces made the car feel like what I can only imagine is what it was meant to be.  Yes, it still sits a little lower than the stock ride height, but it's a real joy to drive now.  I can even go over speed bumps believe it or not.
